Getting Started

Step 1: Enabling the API inside Net2

  1. Once Net2 is installed on your premises, go to Net2 system.

  2. Run the application 'Net2 Configuration Utility' within the Net2 system.

  3. Click on the 'Security' tab within Net2.

  4. Select 'Enable LocalAPI' and press apply. You will be advised to restart the services. The LocalAPI service is now running.

Step 2: Enable certain settings in Net2

  1. Go to the 'General' tab within Net2.

  2. Enable the checkmark "Enable 50,000 user mode".

  3. Set the PIN length to 8 digits. This setting must be set to 8 digits for the two systems to work.

Optional Step 3: Obtain and install your own Paxton Net2 API licence

You will receive the system API license and the respective Client ID details from Kinnovis. There is no need to obtain an own Paxton Net2 license unless you want to. Contact the Paxton support team to understand the benefits.

In case you want to obtain your own Paxton API license and client ID you need to follow these steps:

  1. Contact Paxton Support

    • Email Paxton’s support team with the subject: "Request for Net2 API Licence."

    • Include the following details:

      • Company name

      • Contact name

      • Email address

      • Phone number

    • State that you need an API licence and client ID for integrating Paxton Net2 with Kinnovis.

  2. Receive Your Licence File

    • Once approved, Paxton will send you a licence file. Do not rename or edit this file, as it will invalidate the licence.

  3. Install the Licence File

    • Open the Net2 Local API Configuration Utility, found under the Security tab of the Net Configuration Utility.

    • The default path on Windows 10/11 is:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Paxton Access\Access Control\SvrConf.exe

    • Load the licence file and restart the Net2 Service to activate the Client ID.

  4. Final Configuration

    • Ensure Secure Mode is disabled to enable API access.

    • The name of the licence file is your Client ID, which will be used for authentication in the Kinnovis integration.

The Client ID is found in your licence file and needs to be entered during the connection setup (see step #3). Below is an example showing where to locate your Client ID within the licence file
